With performances running from March through to September, an evening at Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre is one of London’s summer evening treats. Productions range from family favourites to classical Shakespeare.

We can’t wait for the re-opening of one of our favourite London spots so it’s great to see news of the 2024 summer schedule. The 2024 programme includes a production of popular family-friendly productions, such as Roald Dahl’s ‘The Enormous Crocodile’ and classic hits including Fiddler on the Roof.

The theatre is the UK’s only professional, permanent, outdoor theatre. But it’s the theatre’s atmosphere that is the real winner.  Located within Regent’s Park’s Inner Circle, actors perform against a magical backdrop of darkening skies and rustling leaves.  There are some matinée performances but it’s during the evening that the theatre is most atmospheric.  Seating is uncovered so do be sure to take plenty of layers on cooler evenings – and pray that it stays dry!

Most people grab something to eat before the performance – there are burgers from the barbecue stall at one end of the theatre’s picnic lawn; salads, desserts and – naturally! – strawberries and cream at the Summer Café; and drinks and a very British Pimms from the bar. For a special treat, you can pre-order a picnic or a luxury hamper for two.
