Easter weekend in London, 30 March – 2 April
Visit London at Easter and find shop windows filled with Easter bunnies and piled high with mouth-watering displays of chocolate eggs and other edible treats. If you are holidaying with kids, why not join other families at an organised Easter egg hunt? These take place at the larger National Trust or English Heritage run stately homes and gardens in and around London. Join the Lindt Gold Bunny Hunt at Hampton Court Palace (26 March – 15 April 2018) in the home and gardens of Henry VIII.
For some of the best chocolate displays in London, visit Fortnums on Piccadilly. In Fouberts Place, off Carnaby Street, the extraordinary Choccywoccydodah is a chocoholics paradise.
On Good Friday, up to 20,000 people gather to watch the Easter story brought to life in Trafalgar Square. The annual re-enactment of the biblical story is acted out by actors and volunteers, accompanied by horses, donkeys and doves. Giant screens around the square project the performances live at 12pm and 3.15pm.
