Easter egg-stravaganza

For many of us, Easter is all about family, chocolate eggs and getting outside to enjoy the spring sunshine. This is one of the best times of the year to  enjoy the local parks and gardens which in spring are awash with brightly-coloured daffodils and the first sign of tulips. Take part in Easter egg hunts in the royal parks and palaces and at many museums. Traditionally, the larger National Trust and English Heritage stately homes and gardens also hold family-friendly organised Easter egg hunts.

Then there’s the pleasure of admiring shop window displays and, of course, Easter egg shopping in London’s upmarket stores. If this is your first visit to the fabulous Fortnum & Mason’s, you’ve picked an excellent time of year!

Another of the highlights of the Easter weekend in London is the Passion of Jesus re-enactment in Trafalgar Square. On Good Friday, up to 20,000 people gather to watch the annual re-enactment of the Easter story by 100 performers, accompanied by horses, donkeys and doves.

The annual performance of the Passion of Jesus takes place in Trafalgar Square on Good Friday with a cast of 100 actors and volunteers.
