Easter egg-stravaganza
Easter 2021 is going to be a slightly more muted affair than usual. Lockdown is easing slightly here in the UK but caution is still key.
For many of us, Easter is all about family, chocolate eggs and getting outside to enjoy the spring sunshine. So most of us will be heading for the local parks and gardens which at this time of year are awash with brightly-coloured daffodils and the first sign of tulips. Traditionally, the larger National Trust and English Heritage stately homes and gardens hold organised Easter egg hunts, but this year, it’ll be a case of ‘bring your own’!
Some London attractions will be running virtual activities such as Easter egg hunts and craft activities. Normally, an Easter highlight in London is the Passion of Jesus re-enactment in Trafalgar Square. On Good Friday, up to 20,000 people gather to watch the annual re-enactment of the Easter story by 100 performers, accompanied by horses, donkeys and doves. This year, the 2019 performance will be streamed online on 2 April.
