If you’re in London in November, be sure to add the Lord Mayor’s Show to your schedule. The 800-year old fun-filled fabulous piece of British pageantry marks the first day of public engagement for the newly-elected Lord Mayor of the City of London.

This year, the Lord Mayor’s Show will be on 12 November 2022.

What happens at the Lord Mayor’s Show?

Traditionally, the day’s proceedings start at 08.30 when the Lord Mayor boards the traditional Thames Gloriana barge and travels along the Thames, passing under the open arms of Tower Bridge. It then continues to the HMS President, just below St Katherine’s Dock. The spectacular main procession of vintage cars, tractors, carriages, fire engines and unicycles, with over 7,000 people and up to 200 horses, sets off at 11am from Mansion House. It then passes by the Royal Courts and returns by the Victoria Embankment at 1pm.

Where can I watch it?

Usually, the most atmospheric place for spectators is lining the route of the 3-mile long procession of 140 floats. Grandstand seats are usually available at around £40 each.

What else is going on?

There’s entertainment throughout the day for all in the family in Paternoster Square and around St Paul’s. Mingle amongst artisan food stalls, watch street theatre and take rides on the funfair.

Further information, details of the day’s events and a map of the processional route are available from the Lord Mayor’s Show website. Please also keep an eye on the relevant Twitter and Facebook feeds for the most up-to-date news.
