You don’t need to be a tennis fan to enjoy Wimbledon (1-14 July 2024), a quintessentially British experience of sipping chilled Pimms, nibbling on strawberries and watching the world’s top tennis players battle it out on Centre Court.
Getting tickets
Ticketmaster is the official agent for Wimbledon sales. Tickets start at around £30 for entry to the grounds. This allows entry to the outside courts (4-12) which can feature excellent matches early on in the tournament so is a good-value way of soaking up the atmosphere. Alternatively, several hundred Centre Court and Court number 3 are available online on the day before play via Ticketmaster.
If you’re happy to queue on the day, a limited number of tickets are available on the day for Centre Court and courts number 1 and 2. Several thousand Grounds Passes are also available. Queues can start from as early as 6am, with some super-keen fans queueing and camping from the previous evening.
The last option is to buy a ‘Return’, available from mid-afternoon. This is a very affordable way of watching some world-class tennis.

Tennis at The Queen’s Club
Still on a tennis theme, the Queen’s Club is home to the Aegon Championships (15-23 June 2024), generally seen as the ‘warm-up’ for Wimbledon. Established in 1886, The Queen’s Club is in the heart of West Kensington.
