Snowdrop days in London’s parks and gardens

While the rest of the UK waits in anticipation for the first sign of Spring, the Snowdrop Trail at the Chelsea Physic Garden peaks early thanks to the garden’s unique micro-climate. London’s oldest garden, which closes for the winter, opens for its Snowdrop Days ahead of its official Spring opening.  Read more about the Chelsea Physic Garden in our blogpost on London’s Secret Gardens.

Outside of London, one of the country’s largest displays of creamy white snowdrops can be seen in January and February at Anglesey Abbey in Cambridge; while at Winkworth Arboretum in Surrey, thousands of snowdrops appear in clusters from early February.

At Benington Lordship Garden in Hertfordshire, huge swathes of snowdrops cover much of the moat and ground around the Norman Castle. A labelled collection of 200 varieties of snowdrops, including some rarer breeds, is kept in and around the walled Kitchen Garden.
