While the rest of the UK waits in anticipation for the first sign of Spring, the Chelsea Physic Garden’s snowdrops are already out.
London’s oldest garden closes for the winter, re-opening on 22 January 2023 ahead of its official Spring opening. Flowers in the garden peak early, thanks to the garden’s unique micro-climate. Visit the annual snowdrop trail up to 28 February and catch a glimpse of other early spring blooms.
Outside of London, you can also see huge displays of creamy white snowdrops at Anglesey Abbey in Cambridge. Meanwhile at Winkworth Arboretum in Surrey, thousands of snowdrops appear in clusters from early February.
Finally, at Benington Lordship Garden in Hertfordshire, huge swathes of snowdrops cover much of the moat and ground around the Norman Castle. Visit the labelled collection of 200 varieties of snowdrops, including some rarer breeds, in and around the walled Kitchen Garden.
