Take to the water for an alternative London experience

Walking along London’s waterways is one of our favourite ways to discover the best bits of the city. Now you can go one step further and, for a great family-friendly adventure or a romantic excursion for two, explore it by boat.

Pick up an eco-friendly self-drive boat from one of GoBoats two bases, north or south of the river. In north London, head for their base in Paddington and travel along a beautiful section of the Regent’s Canal. Travel through picturesque Little Venice and the 249 metre Maida Hill Tunnel, past Regent’s Park and gaze up at the giraffe houses at London Zoo.

In south London, start your GoBoats adventure in Kingston. Travel up the river as far as Molesey Lock, passing by Hampton Court Palace, and then down river to Teddington Lock.

There’s no need to worry about previous boating experience. You’ll get full training when you arrive, as well as a route map.

At £85/hour, it’s not cheap but each boat holds up to 8 people so if you’re a party of 4 or more, it feels slightly more affordable.
